About us

Here for your family

Guided Hands was built for families who were handed a phone list and left to figure out the rest. We stay with you instead.

Our mission

Walking with families, one step at a time

We help children, parents, and caregivers get the support they need — with kindness, patience, and people who follow through.

We believe families are the experts on their own lives. Our role is to bring structure, professional knowledge, and steady advocacy so that expertise can finally be heard — in courtrooms, clinics, classrooms, and case conferences.

We serve individuals and families from many cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and we adapt our communication, scheduling, and referrals to fit the households we serve.

Founder

Shalona Stewart, MSW, has spent nearly twenty years helping children, parents, and caregivers across Kansas and the Kansas City area. Since 2007, she has walked with families through some of their hardest seasons — always with respect, patience, and hope.

A graduate of Pittsburg State University, Shalona spent nearly 10 years with Family and Children Together through the Crawford County Mental Health Department. She started as a Direct Care Attendant and grew into a Senior Case Worker, building strong partnerships with families and local providers along the way.

In 2018, she moved to the Kansas City metro to join KVC Behavioral Health as a Case Manager for children and families in foster care. There she worked side by side with birth families, foster parents, schools, agencies, and courts to keep children safe and families connected.

While working full time, Shalona earned her Master of Social Work. Her training deepened her skills in trauma-informed care, family systems, crisis support, advocacy, and community resources.

Today she serves families across the Kansas City metro with case management, supervised visitation, resource navigation, and one-on-one support. She believes every person deserves to be heard, respected, and given the tools to thrive.

Shalona founded Guided Hands Case Management to build something rooted in compassion, accountability, and encouragement — an organization that walks alongside families as they find resources and build stronger futures.

She believes lasting change starts with genuine human connection. Whether she's advocating for a child, supporting a parent through a hard transition, or linking a family to help they didn't know existed, her goal is the same: that every family feels supported and guided, every step of the way.

Every family deserves to be heard, respected, and guided every step of the way.
